Page to Speech using the Speaker WordPress Plugin

The Speaker Page to Speech WordPress Plugin was tested for compatibility with all popular editors. In this article, you will learn how to make an audio version of your article using the three most common editors as an example:

Before proceeding, make sure that the Page to Speech WordPress Plugin is configured, and the Google Cloud key-file is connected to the plugin.

The Speaker can only voice saved public posts. The speaker does not work for drafts, private posts or posts from the trash.

Create new or open existing Post/Page. Save or publish the Post/Page. If this is a new post, then after saving, you may need to refresh the page. To do this, press F5 for Window and Linux, or ?+R for Mac

The plugin only works with data that has been saved. This means that if you left something changed in the text and pressed the Create audio button, then the data not saved will not turn into speech.

Important

If you click the Сreate audio button before the publication is saved, then you will lose all changes that have not been saved.

Step 3

After a few seconds, the page will reload, and you will see the player. Press the Play button to make sure that the speech was created correctly.

Other WordPress Editors and Page Builders

The speaker Page to Speech WordPress plugin is compatible with most popular editors. Unfortunately, in this article, it is impossible to talk about each in detail. I bring to your attention a universal algorithm:

Step 1

Create and save the Page/Post

Step 2

Return to WordPress interface

Step 3

Click Create an audio button in the Speaker section.

Step 4

Check the audio version of the article

Batch processing

Starting with version 2.0.0, you can use mass processing to filter speech in a large number of WordPress pages.
Please note that this feature will only work if your plugin has been activated on the activation tab. For non-activated plugins, the bulk processing mechanism will not work.

Step 1

Go to the WordPress Pages or Posts list.

Step 2

Select a few posts or pages. Select Create Audio in the Bulk Actions menu. And press the Apply button.

Step 3

In the list of posts will be marked processed and not processed posts. Posts/Pages for which audio versions have already created will be marked with a green triangle. Posts for which audio has not yet created will be marked with a blue contour triangle.

You can also simply click on the triangle to create audio for the page without opening the page. For already created audio, clicking on the green triangle allows you to download a file and a speech.

Mute parts of the text

Starting with version 2.0.0, you can mute parts of text inside the page. There are three ways to mute a piece of text in a post. You can use any of them and also can use several methods on one page.

  • Add class="speaker-mute" in muted element
  • Add attribute speaker-mute="true" in muted element
  • Wrap muted content in shortcodes [speaker-mute][/speaker-mute]

Speaker is a Page to Speech WordPress Plugin designed to converts website page content into human-like speech. The plugin uses the latest technology of machine learning and artificial intelligence to play a high-quality human voice and add an audio player with content to the page.

SSML

Starting with version 2.0.0, the Speaker plugin supports Speech Synthesis Markup Language(SSML) in WordPress plugin. SSML is part of a larger set of markup specifications for voice browsers developed through the open processes of the W3C. Learn more about SSML in the Speaker WordPress plugin
